police report

My son is incarcerated for leaving the scene of an accident that causes injury .

he was not at the scene of the accident (obviously he left). my question is this can i get a copy of the accident report made by the police at the time?

Yes, you must have some basic information and contact the precinct through which the officers would have responded to the accident were from... know the location and party names, etc. This should be sufficient.

You can obtain a copy of the accident report at the precinct where the officers are from that responded to the scene. If it's too late after the accident to get it from them, the precinct can tell you where to write to get one. OR, you can go on the Department of Motor Vehicle website and request it. OR, you can get one from a lawyer or your insurance company.
