Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
if the police had a search warrant for a person and they arrest the person in another house can they search the whole house where the person was renting a room from in another building ?

There are no search warrants for people, only for locations and they can only search the area set forth in the warrant. If the person is arrested in another location they can only search him and seize what is in open view, that is if they act lawfully, but don't bet on it. Usually they will search and claim they had permission.
