Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Possession of drugs

The police pull me over and search my car for marijuana. Instead, they find a bag of extacy pills which they thought were candy. They did not record any information, just said we could go free. They said however that they would keep the pills just because they were not sure what they were. Can they trace me and my friend down later just off of memory of who we are?

You can be arrested for drug possession. The police must however locate you. Did they take your drivers license or record the license plate,did you own the car? These are ways of connecting the drugs to you.You should retain a competent criminal defense attorney before you are actually arrested.

Yes. Before you get arrested, call an attorney. Get lawyered up. Oh and by the way, when you were pulled over the police officer probably called in your license plate.
