possession of stolen property

car was rented and the car was kept longer than it should have been, the car rental reported the car stolen, however i was caught driving the car, will I be doing jail time and how much time, it was on my first affense or is it possible to pay sometype of fine?

If the facts are the way you say the are I would first attempt to contact an attorney able to handle this type of case. Then get as much information as possible.

Generally, on this type of case you probably will not be looking at jail time with any competent attorney, however you may also potentially have a good chance of getting out of this with no criminal record at all if you find yourself someone experienced in dealing with the DA's office...

you sure you weren't charged with unauthorized use? either way, if it's a first offense, and depending on what county you are in and what judge you have, it is more likely than not that you won't receive jail time. (no guarantees though).
