Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

probation violation....

I honestly thought I was done with probation after a year and a half on probation back in august. well a few days ago , I had two officers come to my door , arrest me and tell me I violated probation. I thought i was done , I posted bail for $1000 and got out but now I have to go to court dec. 15th for the hearing. I talked to my probation officer , I actually went to see her but she didn't say anything about lifting the warrant. im afraid if I go in front of the judge again , I will go to jail. , any advice is welcome. thanks!

also , I know now that you receive a letter once your off probation , I didn't know this cause ive never been on probation before , also , I know it's my job to contact her but I did abouy 4-5 times and she never returned my phone calls.

ps - I just don't want to go to jail , anything I can do???

Re: probation violation....

your best bet will be to hire an experienced attorney, if atleast just for the one court appearance when you return on the warrant, so you might have the best chance of ensuring your side of the story is told before the judge. I would NOT appear without an attorney if i were you.

Re: probation violation....

I would recommend you retain an attorney immediately so he can prepare for the hearing.
