Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
public urination
I recieved a violation for public urination and disorderly conduct in the bronx. i am a good student and a law school applicant for this coming year. therefore, i hope to get the charges dropped or to have the charges lessened to a vague public offense. will this be possible and what should my plan of action be? thank you. and how much should i expect to be paying in terms of lawyer's fees/ fines?

Re: public urination
There are a variety of ways out of this situation, gievn your description of being a law school applicant and dending upon having no criminal record you can probably get one of the two main goals in such a situation of either an ACD or a 240.20 - The ACD is an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal, were you would have to make no more court appearances and simply wait for 6 months and the record of this matter will be automatically dismissed and sealed, provided you dont get into an further trouble. The 240.20 is Disorderly COnduct, it is offered in many situations like th one you described and fits the vagueness you requested... It is NOT a crime, but instead a violation of law and is on par with a speeding ticket, legally.
I would be more than happy to assist you with this matter and we can work out a reasonable fee.

Re: public urination
You can probably get an ACD (Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal) which means the case is adjourned for 6 months and then dismissed. You end up with no record. Please feel free to contact me if you sish to discuss.
