Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Public Urination

I was summoned to appear in Manhatten, New York City Court for charges of public urination. Violation of sec. 153 sub. 09. There is no option on the summons to pay a fee, only to appear in person at the court. I called the court and they said I had to appear and did not have any other option. Is this true? I would think I would be able to just pay a fee and not have to appear in court, especially since I do not live anywhere near NYC.

If I am required to appear, what would happen if I did not show up to my court appearance?

Do you know what the fees are for public urination, first time offense?

Re: Public Urination

You must appear or a warrant for your arrest will be ordered. If and when you appear there will be an opportunity to present a defense such as a medical condition . There will also be an opportunity to plea bargain the matter so that you will not have a criminal record. You may contact my office via e-mail @ [email protected] or via phone,I am located in Brooklyn N.Y.and I represent many defendants before that tribunal.
