Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Public urination
I was given a summons for PU in Manhattan NY. I did not sign the summons, however, the court date is 27th June and I will be out of the country. Is there any way to have the date moved forward or put back? Happy to pay lawyer fees to help with this.
Also I understand I should expect a fine in the region of $100 if I plead guilty? Is there a chance of a record if its a first offence?

Re: Public urination
An attorney should appear for you on June 27 with proof that you are out of the country (i.e. a copy of your tickets, etc.). The court will adjourn the case. In the extreme, the court could issue a warrant but that is not likely to happen under the circumstances. Once you do appear in court, its likely that you can work out a favorable disposition. I am a former Assistant DA and could handle your case if you wanted me to. Please feel free to contact me.

It is likely that we can help you get the case adjourned and assist you in ensuring that you have no record for the infraction, especially if it was your first offense. This area of law is our specialty, however, we would need some more information before making a complete and proper determination. You are welcome to contact us for a free consultation.
