Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Question about Jurisdiction

I was charged with scheme to defraud after using a company credit card to make about $5,000 in purchaces. My question is if not all of the purchaces I made were in the county in which I am being charged, does that county court have jurisdiction to try me for the carges made in the other counties? The ''victim'' in this case is a company based in Vermont, but has a branch in the county where I am being charged. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Re: Question about Jurisdiction

NY statute may be very specific on the issue and I can only give general advice. My guess is you can be charged ina variety of places with a variety of crimes. Each county can charge you for the theft but not with each others. However, restitution could be ordered for the whole amountin one county. A state wide prosecutor, like in the attorney generals office could charge you with each county in the state where theft took place. The bank where the credit card was isssued can charge you. Vermont could chagrge you as well.
