Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Hi,

My question is regard my arrest in 2009 for patronizing a prostitute in NY;

I was offered a deal to plead guilty to a lesser charge of Disorderly conduct or 240.20 wich I accepted;

Can I qualify for an expungement?

Pls advice, I am looking for a job and I need to know where I stand;

thank you

New York State does not have expungement. If you did not waive sealing of the disposition at the time of the plea, your conviction would be sealed but not expunged and could be seen by law enforcement and government agencies. You should get a copy of your criminal record to see what is on it before you take any further steps.

You plead guilty to a violation not a crime,therefore on all job applications it is truthful to answer you were never convicted of a crime. NY does not expunge records.It is possible that your violation conviction was or will be sealed.
