Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Questioning of minors
I have a 16 yr old son that has previosly been in trouble and is on PINS. It seems like now whenever something illegal happens in the neighbor hood the local sherifs dept calls me and would like to set up ''a time'' that they can come to my home to question my son. In some of these cases my son has been named as ''possibly'' involved and in others they just want to question him if he knows anyone that may have done these acts.
Do I have to set up a time and allow them to do this and also if they arrive unannounced do I have to let them enter my house right then and there?

Re: Questioning of minors
It seems the sheriff's "inquiries" have advanced to becoming harassment.
No, you do NOT have to accomodate them whenever they want an appointment; and NO you do not have to let them into your house (announced or unannounced beforehand) if they don't have a warrant. Tell them to contact your lawyer.
