Rearrested- violaion of probation

My friend was just remanded for a violation of probation. He originally recieved a three year probation sentence and it was supposed to be done the 21st of this month. He wass rearrested for a dui and voluntarily admitted himself to a drug treatment program. It was not court ordered. They said he violated probation and remanded him. What are the chances that he will get a jail sentence, di you thnk they just might extend his probation. Sny type of info will be very helpful. Thank you

Re: Rearrested- violaion of probation

your friend is in a lot of trouble, the fact that his probation is almost over is not relevant. He violated the terms of his probation and that is what the probation officer and Judge who will hear his vop will fixate on. you need an attorney who will argue that he has kept his nose clean for the rest of his probation and this at the end should not be held as strongly as his overall record.

As for jail time or extended probation, yes he will most likely get one or the other.
