Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I received a letter from the district attorneys office stating that I was arraigned on a felony complaint in a local criminal court and that it will be the subject of a Grand Jury proceeding. However, I was not arrested or arraigned. What does this mean?

It sounds like someone is using your name or the DA made a mistake. If you are 100% sure you were not involved in any crime whatsoever, you should call the DA's office and arrange a meeting. Otherwise contact an attorney.

Regardless of the circumstances you should get an attorney. The DA will not talk to you with the same openness that they will with an attorney and you might not get this resolved quickly or completely without representation.
