Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
I received a 1 year criminal discharge sentence for a New York City Trespassing Violation (the judge stated that it was a violation and NOT a crime). Will this show up on my criminal record? If it's relevant, it was a first offense.

No. A conviction for a "violation" is a not a conviction for a crime. It is more like a conviction for a traffic infraction, like parking or speeding. The court was required to seal the record of the matter once it was finished. No conviction will be reported on your rap sheet. By the way, your sentence is called a "conditional discharge."
