Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

So I was recently arrested because a picture surfaced of my ex online a few days after our divorce and she claims that I did it. In a statement I admitted that I sent an explicit photo of her to some one while I was under the influence but that it was a long time ago, the picture is also over two years but the da wants to hit me with a felony, aggrivated, assault charge. Thing is Im owed a good amount of money by her from our divorce so I would not risk putting this picture up, because I'm not going to miss out on the money she owes me but I'm not sure how to proceed considering I did admit to sending a picture to someone at one pt.

Any help offered would be appreciated, having a felony on my record will destroy my future in the social work field.

Thank you

The best advice is for you to obtain a criminal defense attorney immediately. There has to be proof of any charge and obviously the DA believes that they have this proof and so you were charged. You need an attorney on your side of the court and you need to discuss all the facts with them as soon as possible. Your attorney will discuss with you any admissions or motives you may or may not have. Do not delay, this is a felony charge.
