Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I got a recipe from a friend to make home made feritlizer for gardening. while making it it caught fire . the fire cause some damage to myself and house. limited damage. the fire marshall said the ingreidients I was using are the same for making bombs ..the smoke bombs.

my question is...is what I did illegal in the state on ny

Well, my best advice is that you consult an criminal defense attorney as soon as possible, if you are in fact charged with anything. Certain bomb making ingredients are illegal, but usually if together with other bomb making materials.
