Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
I know someone who was in a relationship for 2 years he beat her and stole her car they found him like 2 weeks later. Charges were made for robbery and for hitting her also they put a restraining order against him. They arrested him and he's been in there for over 2 months now. She recently spoke to him and sends him gift baskets to jail and speaks to him. Now she says she wants him out and is going to get him a lawyer and say she provoked him. Can she just drop charges and he gets out ? Or will she get herself introuble ?

She can talk to the DA about being unwilling to be a witness if this is what she wants to do. However the charges are brought by the DA and they are the only one who can drop them.
