Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I rented a Tv from a rental place for my son in college. My son an friends broke the tv during a party they disposed of it as he is away from home in dorm.I dont have the tv and i have not kept up on payments but told the rental place that I would buy a new one but can not do till refund for tax return. He sent me a letter that he is going to have me arrested and i can spend a year in jail can this happen .

They are bluffing. You committed no crime. What they are doing is illegal. Send a letter to the company, explaining what happened and threaten to sue for false arrest if they bring charges against you.
