Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I have never been in trouble with the law. I was confused about welfare and now I am beeing charged with welfare fraud. I have a family of 4 and I work full time, my family was recieving foodstamps but my fiance did not tell them she was working at a convinent store will we go to jail or just pay it back we are scared please help me.

It is possible to receive jail/prison time for welfare fraud, however it is also sometimes possible to resolve such a situation without jail time being required.
