Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
running someone over = jail time????
My brother's fiance claims she backed over a person several years ago by accident. The person died. She was then sent to jail for one year. How is this possible if it was just an accident. She claims she was not under the influence of any substance???

She may have been acting recklessly and thus, she can be punished for that. I don't know what she was charged with, but 1 year for killing a guy is pretty good.
