Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Shoplifting: does it permanently go on your criminal record?
I was caught shoplifting 10 years ago (1st and only criminal offense) Estimated value of goods was less than $40. Decided to take a plea bargain (listened to my college appointed lawyer). Forgot the ruling of the judge. Scared that this will be a permanent record when I try to apply for jobs. Will it?

Re: Shoplifting: does it permanently go on your criminal record?
The answer depends on what your plea-bargain was.Ifyou plead guilty to a violation this should not hinder your future since a violation is not considered a crime. Also if you were under 19 years old your record would be sealed.
