Re: shoplifting
To give you a short answer: you will not go to jail. However, in all likelihood, you have been charged with a misdemeanor petit larceny (PL 155.25) which carries a maximum of 1 year in jail. Therefore, you do need an attorney to represent you in court to make sure that your otherwise untarnished criminal record remains such. Feel free to contact my office for a more detailed consultation.
Re: shoplifting
A good criminal defense attorney will be able to help you avoid jail and in most circumstances negotiate a plea bargain which will not give you a criminal record. To discuss this further please call my office @7188340087 for a free phone consultation.
Re: shoplifting
You need to get that shoplifting changed to a different offense which is not theft because shoplifting will prevent you from getting a lot of jobs.
Being vaguely disorderly is a better offense to have a record for.
