Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
My son was assaulted on Saturday night, he did not know the person who assaulted him. This man broke my son's jaw in two places, he required 3 1/2 hours of surgery and had a permanent titanium plate installed in his chin. The man who did this surrendered to the police and was put in jail for Felony assault. Today was the hearing, witnesses came forward, hospital records were supoened (sp?). I just found out the case will go to a grand jury. What happens from here? Is there anything I can do to help my son other than a lot of tlc?

You should consult with an attorney and sue for damages. You may also seek compensation from the victim's of crime fund.
