Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

my son ,who has a mental disability, was suspended from school on dec.1. he had to go to a hearing at the school and he was allowed to go back to school with rules to abide by on dec.8.today we were notified that there was a criminal summons for my son. we went to the police station and he was served. he had to go to court now because his principal sighned a complaint on him. what do i do?

Call your son's diagnosing doctor. DO NOT LET THE POLICE QUESTION YOUR SON. When they tell you he has the right to remain silent do not talk and ask for a lawyer immediately if they try to question your son or you. DO NOT TALK TO THE POLICE WITHOUT ASKING FOR A LAWYER! Good luck!
