Obscenity in the Third Degree is a class A misdemeanor in New York State which is punishable by up to one year in jail, or several non-jail alternatives.
It is not a registerable offense, meaning a conviction will not result in a designation as a sex offender.
In terms of what you would be barred from doing, that is difficult to answer. The simple answer is that you would be barred from any employment that does not hire someone who has been convicted of a crime. Other than that, what specifically are you looking for?
You could lose job opportunities. Not be able to run for office because your opponent will use the conviction against you. It may affect you opportunity to get a plea deal in a future criminal case.
It should not, by law, prevent you from working with children.
