Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Speedy Trial
This case is an extremely long story to shorten it up my lawyer signed away my rights to a speedy trial without my permission. The district attorney offered us to sign a paper that said that I would be signing away my rights to a speedy trial, I choose not to sign it. I hadn't spoke with my lawyer after that point for a few months, after 8 months I met with him and he had told me I was offered a plea and if I did't accept it that I would be indited, when I was previously informed by him that if they didn't indite within 6 months I would get off on a speedy trial. I asked him what happend with the speedy trial and he told me that he had bascially done it for me. I told him I never gave him permission to do that, and how was he going tofix things and he blew me off pretty much. I live in a small town and fell like I am being treated unfairly accused and treated. Please try help me figure out what to do. They are trying to indite in three days

Re: Speedy Trial
You should immediately meet with a new attorney and decide whether you will testify at the grand jury and/or make a motion to dismiss. First: get a new lawyer. www.lawjsk.com
