Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Stabbing
My son was stabbed and almost died while trying to break up a fight. He knew the person who did it (a 19 year old boy) and told detectives. The boy (Who also stabbed another boy 5 minutes before my son) left the scene of the crime and was not found until the next day. I would like to know why he never even had to pay bail. To this day (My son was stabbed on June 15th, 2002, it is now Sept. 11, 2002) the District Attorney has never called my son for any information. I finally got a hold of the ADA and he was very curt and rude to me, and gave me no information at all about what was happening with this case. What is the usual protocol when someone intentionally stabs someone, and why didn't he have to pay bail? Thank you very much.

Ask to speak to the ADA's supervisor.
