Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
out of state jurisdiction
A friend of mine was charged with a couple misdemeanors - assault, resisting arrest, etc. These all occurred within the last three months. Recently his girlfriend stated he stole a motorcycle that was titled in her name.. but registered and insured in his. They charged him with Grand theft auto. If he leaves New York before they go to trial with any of these.. do they have jurisdiction to indite in other states?

Re: out of state jurisdiction
Absolutely, otherwise every New Yorker arrested for a felony would be leaving the state.
