Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Statements
My licensed gun was taken without my knowledge by a friend. They were arrested for possesion of a firearm. The police want me to identify the gun and sign a statement that I didn't give permission for him to take the gun. I don't want burglary charges added but how do I go about giving a statement without adding charges?

Re: Statements
I think you should hire a lawyer. I fail to see why you would have to sign a statement in order to get your gun back. Aside from your right to keep and bear arms, you also have the right to remain silent.
