Should I go to the station and Can I be arrested?

I worked for 5 weeks at a store as a manager. During the 5 weeks I kept getting told by the owner that it was harder for her to pay me my hourly wage than the two cashiers because I was making a lot more than them. She called my house one night and laid me off. After waiting a week, I filed unemployment. Unemployment contacted her and told her that I applied for it. 15 days later she went to the state police and filed a report that she let me go because I stole money from her. They referred her to the local police. This was on october 18, 06. She waited until after unemployment called her to make up her story to get out of paying it to me. She didn't file with the local police until Jan 07 I was denied unemployment and had a hearing and the judge ruled in my favor as there was no evidence of theft and because she waited so long to file the judge felt she did that to not have to pay. Now today a local detective called me and asked me to come into the station to talk with him about this issue. I told him I would. Now I know I didn't take anything from the store so why is asking me to come in? Should I go or should I just ask him to interview me on the phone. My biggest question is, can he arrest me for anything after I go there?

There are several issues i would like to address from your question. Generally you do not qualify for unemployment until after six months of being employed from a company. SO, i do not believe you would have qualified for unemployent. Secondly, generally unemployment is paid out by the State as opposed to the employer directly.

DO NOT go to the police station, as this is a tactic usually used by the warrant squad in order to arrest people they have placed warrants on, with very little effort, they very well may be seeking to arrest you.

DO NOT GO TO THE STATION and DO NOT INTERVIEW BY PHONE!! Call the Detective and schedule a meeting with him and your attorney. Even if he is engaging you in pleasant conversation, the detective is seeking an ultimate result of you saying something that may be damaging. Most criminal attorneys will charge you some type of investigative fee (which is much less then their full fee if you were arrested) to accompany you during an interview. He can arrest you. The standard for arrest requires very little actual proof. GET IN TOUCH WITH AN ATTORNEY.
