Statute of Limitations
I would like to know what the statute of limitations for a class E felony(such as rape in the 3rd degree) in the State of New York.

The statute of limitations for a felony is 5 years in which to initiate prosecution, unless the subject has fled the jurisdiction to avoid prosecution, which tolls the time period.
