Statute of limitations in NY state for nonviolent offenders
If you are charged with a crime and you avoid sentencing by the time the statute of limitations runs out what happens.

It would help if you could give us a bit more information.
Was there an arrest?
Was there a conviction?
Generally how was the sentence avoided? In other words, was it someone's fault, an oversight or was the defendant just difficult to locate in order to be sentenced?
