Stolen CPU Chip off motherboard
A Friend of my daughters volunteered to do some trouble shooting on our 6 month old computer. he was going to install a fire wall and clean up some problems we were having with pop up ads. Upon return of our hard drive the computer wasn't working at all, we sent it out to be replaced under warranty, we recieved a call back from the computer company that orginally build the computer stating the warranty was not valid because the orginal cpu chip from the mother board was taken and replace with a junk chip, the cost of that cpu chip is 719.00. The friend wont return calls and denies relacing the cpu chip. what can i do.

Re: Stolen CPU Chip off motherboard
If you really think that this guy stole the chip, rather than believing that the computer came that way, you can report this to your local police. The police will determine if criminal charges will be made.
Based on the facts you indicate, I do not think the police will be interested in filing criminal charges.
You can also file a claim in Small Claims Court in the Town or City where the guy lives. Did you pay him for the work he did for you? If not, he may Counter sue you in Small Claims Court for work done.
