Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Surety Hearing

A family member was arrested on drug related charges. He is currently incarcerated and has a bail bond set. Can we use money he legally earned on his legal job to contribute towards the bail?

Re: Surety Hearing

Yes you can. However, you should hire a lawyer immediately, before a bail hearing. A

good lawyer can assure the judge that your client does not need a large bail, or could be released on his own without bail.

If you would like to contact me, please feel free to do so.

Yes, however you need to show where the money came from and that it is not part of the money he may have earned while being involved in a nefarious activity. If you work with a known bail bondsman or good criminal lawyer, they ought to be able to walk you through the entire procedure.

Good Luck.
