Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Taking Money from Employer
I took money from my employer while in a state of mania (I am a manic depressive). They do not want to file charges (thank god) and still would like to keep me employed and I am paying them back. My question is they want me to sign a confession to what I have done. They had there accountant type up a ''confession'' - needs lots of corrections however I am a bit concerend about signing something like this?
Any advice will help.

My advice would be NOT to sign this statement. For several reasons.

Once the document is fully prepared, I can review it with you and with your employer. We will address the consequences and then determine if such course of action is proper. If you sign an agreement such as described it may be admissible in court as a confession. I would be very cautious and would retain a competent attorney before doing anything.
