Re: When is testifying at the grand jury advised in criminal court

Usually most legal aid attorneys jump too quickly into putting

Their clients into a grand jury with little consideration for

Many of the facts.

The major negatives of a grand jury are the facts that you're not

Allowed to have your attorney in the room with you, so you have to

Spend a great deal if time with your lawyer preparing. If your

Lawyer will not be able to prep you properly I would not suggest

You go forward... By merely even asking this question of an online

source I'm going to assume you haven't had the proper amount of

Time focused on your case or you wouldn't have to ask such

Questions.

Second, anything said at the grand jury is testimony that will

Later be used against you in court, if the grand jury votes

Against you... This is why its important to ensure that you are

Properly prepared.

That being said, the only time I would put a client into a grand

Jury is when there is a good factual basis that ensures that the

Peoples case is weak. NOT a lay mans opinion, as every defendant

Believes the da has a weak case against them but instead a lawyers

Opinion as to the law and the specific charges.

I wish you the best of luck. If you need counsel to assist with
