Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
I have someone texting me threating to damage my car, i saved the text messages of the threats. If i am sleeping and miss him damaging my car, without getting it on camera or catching him in the act, can i still press charges with only the saved text messages?

It is certainly within your right to file a complaint for criminal mischief with the NYPD. Whether they and/or the DA's Office thinks it's enough evidence to prosecute or convict may be a different story and varies based on the individual investigating the case.

The text message and the damage should be enough for prosecution.
