Theft of a house belonging to elderly not of sound mind and body (alzeheimers)

A person forged documents and mortgaged elderly's home for $500,000. The elderly passed 6 mos. later. What crime(s) did this person commit? What is the punishment? and Is there a statute of limitation for reporting this crime?

If it can be proven that the document was forged, then the person who perpetrated the fraud can be guilty of Grand Larceny - a high felony, and several lesser crimes. The punishment is State Prison Time for as much as 15 years. There is a statute of limitations, but it depends upon the discovery of the crime.
