Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
I got a ticket for lotiering after dark in a park. Me and my friend were just sitting in the car talking, and I didn't see any signs that said the park was closed at night so I didn't realize how big of a problem it would be. What might the ticket cost me, and will pleading guilty make me have a criminal record?

Loitering is a violation, not a crime and thus although you would have a record it is not a criminal record. It is no more serious than a traffic ticket. There will be a fine and surcharges but no chance of jail or criminal ramifications.

It's always good to get a dismissal. Fight the case and the worst case scenario, is probably a fine if it is your first offense.
