Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
How much time between original hearing (the one with a REAL lawyer, NOT a P.D) and plea bargaining begins until the actual time the plea is locked and the felon is sentenced. Crime is 220.16 (Heroin) It's been 5 months now. original Bust was in August, next court date is Jan 20. How many options can this joker have?

Perhaps the PD is trying to negotiate the best deal possible with all the available options (drug treatment program, plea offer etc..) which takes time. Also, possibly the client is difficult.
