Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
trespassing
me and my friend were walking home form my other friends house who lives right behing my high school. to get home i walk through the back gate of the school which is always open walk through a little parking lot out onto a main road. its a shortcut ive been taking for 4 years now. on this night two cops came in a gave us tickets for trepassing. can i get in any serious trouble? the gates are opened, there never closed. i not sure whatarea of law it is so i just choosecrimianl law

Hi:
First and foremost you should tell your parents about this incident,because they will find out eventually. You should have them with you present speak with an attorney. The ticket that you received should have the violation on it and the court date, etc. If you have a clean record, and do not hide from this matter it should result in a fine, and possibly some type of record,but until I have the ticket, I can not help any further.

This is a criminal offense,that being said the likely punishment is either an ACD which is an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal,or perhaps a small fine.
