Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

unauthorized use of vehicle

I rented a car from budget rent a car. I had it for one month and brought it back and then rented another one on another contract. Near the end of the second contract i sent them an email requesting an extension for a further couple months and gave them my new phone number as my old one was disconnected. I realized after some time I did not receive a reply so i sent another email requesting information specific to my return. They said that i had extend my contract at the budget location. I went in and they said they had no record i ever contacted them about extending the contract and that because they never recieved that email they also had no good phone number. They said they had a warrent issued for my arrest. I returned the vehicle and paid the amount due up to the end of the second contract. I figured the matter was closed, but later received a letter in the mail from the police saying that I had a warrent out for my arrest. I contacted budget and figured they would clear me because it was just a misunderstanding. They said they would not drop charges and would procecute me to the full extent of the law. They said if they dropped charges, no police station would allow them to issue any more warrants. please help

Re: unauthorized use of vehicle

Your problem requires that you quickly retain competent criminal defense counsel. Upon doing so ,if I were your attorney, I would contact your local police precinct and local prosecutor with the intention of arranging a surrender rather than an arrest. I would then try to resolve the matter through negotiation with the local prosecutor. I routinely handle such matters and therefore you may contact my office for a free phone consultation @7188340087.

Re: unauthorized use of vehicle

This is a matter than can be cleared up by my office. Once a warrant has been issued the compnay no longer has the power to revoke the charge filed but instead this must be done through the district attorneys office.

Please contact my office directly for further discussion on how to proceed with this case. I would like to further assist you on this matter. 2127098303
