Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Unknowingly purchased and resold stolen goods

Hi There

I sell computer and networking equipment to supplement my income. A few months ago, I purchased $12,000 in networking gear from a seller in Canada, a company claiming they were going out of business and liquidating their assets. I travelled to inspect the equipment, and purchased it, returning with it to the US. I subsequently sold the equipment to several customers. I was recently contacted by the vendor who originally sold the equipment to the company I purchased it from. They claim the party who sold the equipment to me never paid them for it, and are threatening me to return or pay for it. Having sold the equipment, unbeknownst of these circumstances, I am not able to personally recover it. I am trying to ascertain my liability, in the event I need to seek legal representation in the matter. Any advice is appreciated.

This matter lies more in the area of expertise in the Civil Realm of Law. "Holder in Due Course" Regarding any criminal liability, any case would be extremely weak. Call a local attorney who deals with civil matters, contracts, business, etc.
