Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Hi, I did some videos that I'm not proud of a few years ago for a website. I've since came to an agreement with the owner to have them removed from the sites for a certain sum of money. He signed a contract with his signature concerning the agreement but now he's stating that he will just put them up on some other website instead now because he still has ownership of the content. He's now saying that I'll have to pay more money in order to have ownership of the material. What should I do? I'm afraid that he may be blackmailing me and this will never end.

Well, this is something like blackmail, but not the criminal kind. When you were a subject of the video, the producer or owner taking the video had a copyright in that video. You as a subject in the video have no rights to ownership under the copyright law. You should have a lawyer look over the agreement that you recently signed with the owner and also any agreement you made when you were first a subject of the videos. You should contact an intellectual property attorney regarding this.
