Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Violation - crime or not
I know someone who was charged with Petit Larceny in 1984 and the charge was reduced to Harrassment - Section 240.25 of the Penal Code. I understand this to be a violation rather than a misdemeanor. The question is - is a violation considered a crime, which would need to be reported on an employment application under the question ''Have you ever been convicted of a crime?''
