Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Wife had me arrested for drug problem (criminal mischief). In jail, I blacked-out while in "protective custody". I broke sprinkler system and flooded jail. Arrested 2 months later on another criminal mischief for flooding incident. Public defender got a misdemeanor for me with a criminal record. Contemplation for dismissal in previous case left me with a criminal record. I am seeking employment and do not want a criminal record. Do I have any recourse? Thank you

New York has no expungement law, so you are stuck with the criminal record, unless you are able to show that the plea was defective in some way and have the plea vacated and return to court and fight all the original charges.
