Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I worked in a cafe called au bon pain i just got laid off and the reason and my question is... they have transactions from my computer coming up that i charged every custumer the same thing.. they now claim i stole $20,000 from them and they want to press charges but they have no evidence proving that i actually took the money but they want to go with the transactions and what they think i was doing.. so my question is can they press charges on me for 20,000 they think i stole with no actual evidence? they dont have me on camera taking this money nor do the transaction say i took this money

It would depend on the proof they have to substantiate the allegations. Remember, the standard for chgarging someone with a crime is much lower than that for convicting them of a crime.
