Your chances of a substantial reduction of charge or dismissal on a first offense such as this would be greatly enhanced if you had an attorney representing your interest and defending your rights. This area of law is our specialty, and our fees are reasonable, however, we would need some more information before making a complete and proper determination. You are welcome to contact us for a free consultation.

Re: worried about any jail time
It is really hard to directly answer your question without knowing whether you received a pink summons or an appearance ticket. In either case a jail term is highly unlikely. I handle cases such as yours on a regular basis with outstanding results. Please call my office@7188340087 for a free phone consultation. My fees for offenses such as yours are extremely reasonable.
Re: worried about any jail time
From the small amount of info you give, I would say your case will probably be dismissed after a 6 month adjournment (what they call an Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal, or ACD). You may be asked to do some community service.
Of course, I don't know what your prior criminal record is, nor have you given any info about the arrest. For example, if this were your 5th arrest for possession, you most likely would NOT be offered an ACD.
