Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
I was in New York City two evenings ago with a friend who was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. I was issued a pink summons for "Loitering For Drugs" and am not sure how to handle this. I live very far from the city and was visiting for the first time. I do not know if I need a lawyer and / or if I need to go back to the city for my court date. I am a college student and I don't have much money. I am incredibly scared that this will affect my future.

You definitely do NOT need to return to NYC if you hire a lawyer. I am in the pink summons part every week and can certainly assist you in this matter. If you received a 240.35 littering summons, the most important thing is that you or your lawyer do not miss your court date, which would lead to a bench warrant for your arrest.
