Legal Question in Discrimination Law in New York

Statutes of Limitations and would i have a case?

It has almost been two years since i have been out of school. The principle and staff had a meeting basically stating reasons why they did not want a homosexual in their school. The pressure became to much to handle which made it impossible to continue in the environment, so i started to become home schooled. Unfortunately the only thing you can get with home schooling is a GED. What is the Statute of Limitation on Discrimanation against this area and would I even have a case if I tried to persue it?

The problem is complex. If you are in New York City, the law will help you. If you are in the State but outside the 5 counties that comprise NYC, it would be much more difficult. You have three years to utilize the NYC Administrative Code in Court if you have NOT made a charge at the NYC Commission on Human Rights. The Federal law under same sex discrimination has a 300 day time limit, unless some other law can be found to get around that stricture of Title VII. But if this was a NYC school there is still time for redress available to you. Also, think laws other than just discrimination; right to an education, public school rights in general; etc.
